The twins, Geraldine & Joyce Jarsey Phillips that are buried in Cumberland Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery, “The Swag” were born 3 April 1941 and died 14 April 1941. Cause of death undetermined, 7 month pregnacy. Daughters of Flem Phillips (1907-1959) and wife Dora Wilson Phillips (1907-1997) Source: Tennessee Death Records, 1908-1959. The parents, Flem & Dora are buried in Norris Memorial Gardens, Anderson County, Tennessee. Please add this to the information on the twins. The parents are my Uncle & Aunt.

Ok there is someone in that town that I know has pictures and he is my cousin but did not know till I told him. Heck I did not know either till I started my search but he said that he has tons of pictures that he does not know who they are,. I know that the woman in the family was the record keeper and the one who kept the family photo’s and since he is the ggg grandchild of the only woman in my gg grandfather’s family she was the one with the pictures. His name is Al Coleman. If any of you people down there know this guy do you think that you can talk him into helping me and I don’t know scanning the photo’s over the internet. I have found his first cousin that did send me a few. There was a Doctor Taylor that was supposed to of had a big beautiful home on the outskirts of Anderson county. He is related to me as well and to All. Could someone take a picture of that old house and scan it for me on the internet. My name is Connie Wade Behensky and my web address is crafts4con@aol.com. If the “Dr. Taylor” you mentioned is Dr. Will Taylor (1853-1930), who was married to Molly Biddle, there should be a book in the local library or Knoxville’s McClung library “The Taylors and Related Families of Anderson County, Tennessee.” There is a good bit of genealogical info in it.

I’m looking for information regarding Rexie and Flossie Phillips Bunch. I have hit a dead end on obtaining information on the Bunch side of the family. Rexie Bunch was born in Devonia, TN. Rexie had 4 children that survived past the age of 2. Margie Bunch, Delois Bunch (my grandmother), Rexie Leo Armes (died in Vietnam), and Jay B Bunch. Margie had 3 children Harold West, Brenda West, and Darryl West which i am unable to obtain any information on them as well. Rexie Leo Armes i only have a DOB and DOD for him from military records. Then on Jay B Bunch he was born in Ohio after Rexie Bunch married Bernice. Rexie and Bernice Divorced before Rexie died. I am unaware of any information DOB, DOD, whereabouts on Jay B Bunch. Carlotta, my wife, Mary Lee Barber Kelly was born to John Henry Barber and Etta Mae Stringer Barber, of Devonia/New River TN on 11/04/1943. At that time, there were three other siblings, two girls and a boy. However, they moved to Petros, better known as Brushy Mountain Prison area, when she was approximately 5 years old. She recalls the name of Phillips and Bunch, but have no contact after moving. Not sure of what time frame your looking for, however, they moved out of the Devonia area around 1948. Hope this helps. Catherine Lamar, dau. of James and Elizabeth Severs Lamar, b. 8 Apr 1806, d. 11 Dec 1881, married Lewis Bradshaw on 10 Sep 1835. I do not know exactly where for any of these events, although Catherine’s father died in Jefferson Co TN in 1829, and her mother in Platte Co MO in 1845. I suspect Catherine was born and married in Jefferson Co TN. Maybe this will lead you somewhere for this family…

I am searching for information regarding the Gamble family: Robert Allen Gamble (1732-1812), his son, John Gamble who died in 1814 and John’s son, Robert Gamble (Abt. 1805) who married the daughter of Thomas Harrison Carneal (1769-1855). They lived in Anderson and Knox counties. The time period is about 1780-1840). Is there a local genealogist who might assist me (for pay) in this quest? Sorry to be so late but I just joined the society a few months ago and saw your request. You probably know by know that Oak Ridge Tn Historical Cemeteries lists two Gamble Cemeteries. If you click on each cemetery you’ll see a list on the burials that have inscribed stones. Unfortunately, some are earlier and have only field stones, but findagrave.com may have some of these unmarked graves listed.
Thank you Fred. Yes, I have visited both cemeteries. Neither one seems to be kept up. One has suffered terrible vandalism with over-turned tombstones, etc. I have a copy of names from both cemeteries. I am sure I am related to some, if not most of these Gambles, but I would like to find a descendent and compare my DNA results with theirs. Let me know if you bump into any Gambles. I am doing research for a local history documentary and am seeking photographs of Clinton taken between 1900-1920. There are a few photos I’m interested in that are included in the Society’s publication, TENNESSEE 200 BICENTENNIAL HISTORY OF ANDERSON COUNTY, as well as a couple included in an earlier book, CLINTON: AN IDENTITY REDISCOVERED. Do you know who I could talk to about finding Clinton images from that period and acquiring permission to use them in a documentary? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! I can provide descriptions of specific photographs I’m seeking, if needed.
Paul. I would recommend contacting Eddie Stair from Clinton. He has an incredible collection of old photos of Clinton and Anderson County. Eddie has a facebook page with many of these photos posted.
Thank you, Ron, for your reply. I have already contacted Eddie, and he very generously shared what he had. Unfortunately, many of his photos were scanned by other people and were not of a high enough resolution for what I need. Do you know if there is a collection of original photographs by Mr. B. Shinlever, a prominent Clinton photographer for many years?

I don;t know when you sent this, but Gadson Town is about 1/2 mile east of Clinton Highway(US 25W) on Raccoon Valley Road in the Claxton Community. The Haven Chapel Methodist Church is now located on Raccoon Valley pretty much in front of Gadson Town. However, the original church was about 1.25 miles further east on Raccoon Valley and the cemetery is located at that site. Since it is located right on Raccoon Valley Rd, it is easy to park and go into and stroll.
(I was raised on Raccoon Valley between Gadson Town and this Cemetery.
We always considered the original black families in Gadson town to be our neighbors.
I have moved and now live about 24 miles further east from my home place and in the mean time, Gadson Town has changed greatly. I don’t know who all lives in there now, but i understand that most of the original property owners no long have decedents living in the “town” To my knowing it never was a “town” but rather a settlement of hardworking black people. As far as I know, there was never even a store in that area. The folks came out on Raccoon Valley and either walked or road down to Clinton Highway to the local store or went to Clinton or Knoxville or Oak Ridge for supplies..

Southwest Point Chapter NSDAR (National Society Daughters of the American Revolution) of Kingston, TN, is compiling a commemorative book of Military Veterans with a tie to Roane County, TN. The public is invited to submit a photo and short military biography of family members and/or friends with Roane County ties. Information requested includes veterans name, birthdate and place, parents’ names, spouse name, branch of military, enlistment date and place, decorations/awards received, theater/battles, discharge date and place, and if applicable, death date and burial place. A copy of a photo of the veteran (only) with the veteran’s name on the back can be submitted, but will not be returned.
Mail the photo copy and information to: DAR, PO Box 611, Kingston, TN 37763. The submission is free. Deadline is March 31, 2014. Southwest Point Chapter meets the third Thursday of each month at the welcome center of Fort Southwest Point in Kingston and will accept submissions at 5:30 pm, also.
A beautiful hardcover book is expected to be printed by Christmas 2014. The book will be available for purchase at a cost of $60 and preorders will be accepted beginning January 2014.
The proceeds from this book will be used by Southwest Point Chapter NSDAR to continue historic preservation, education and to promote patriotism.

I am trying to find information on an antebellum home called “Eagle Bend” that once sat on the Clinch River near Clinton prior to TVA. It was built by F. H. Preston, and sold in the late 1860s to Judge Young whose family occupied the home for nearly a century. Are there any images of the house? Thanks.
Therre is a picture of the Young home at Eagle Bend on page 17 in the book Anderson County Historical Sketches by Katherine Hoskins.
Do you know of any Powell natives that might remember the old Bell Bridge where Clinton Pike crossed Beaver Creek? The bridge was torn down around 1940, as the current bridge had been built at least a decade earlier with the new Clinton Highway. I have yet to find any photographs of the old bridge, but I wondered if there was anyone around who could describe what it looked like. Supposedly, it was a steel bridge floored with wood planks, but I wasn’t sure whether it was a “pony truss” bridge or something else. I appreciate any information you could provide or contacts you might have.

Recorded 5-9-1808. Lifted 6-24-1808 by Robert McNeely. (This survey does
not state in which county the land lay but Bear Creek runs through both Anderson and Roan Counties. His Survey #73 designated the land as being in Roane County, and the body of the survey as being in Anderson County.
Then later, in a survey for William Gardenshire, we find reference to the land again:
Anderson County Land Records: Deed dated 31, January 1815,
William Gardenshire received 25 acres “on the waters of Bear Creek,
a branch of Poplar Creek…running up the valley to John Gamble’s line…to a
spring and improvement where Carneal lives.”
I’m a descendent of Pleasant Miller Freels B 10-25-1827 in Scarbrough, Anderson Co. D 8-3-1877 in Robertsville, Anderson Co. married to Nancy Jane Roberts B 11-25-1821 in N. Carolina, D 8-3-1877 in Edgewood, Anderson Co.
My other line is James Scarborough B abt. 1800 D Oct 1843 in Anderson Co. Married to Anna E Rice B 1804 in N Carolina, D 5-23-1874 in Anderson Co.

Faye i remember going with my mother in May of 1963 and visiting a Taylor who lived in Clinton on the old highway to Oliver Springs (Sunset Road) . My mother called me Bub or Bud Taylor . He told me a story about my Gammon relatives and how two of the girls walked , during the Civil War, 100 miles to nurse their brother John Gammon. I really need to know what this man’s name was and how he was related to the Gammons. Any help you could give would be appreciated. tks
I am looking for information on the death of my great grandfather, Robert Mclin Rowe. He was born on 16 September 1863 in most likely Carter County, TN to John E. Rowe and Mary Evaline Boren, he married Margaret Frances Thomas in 1899. He supposedly died either in a mining accident or the result of a mining accident on 22 June 1897. I cannot find a mining accident around that time in Anderson County. They were living in Coal Creek at the time of his death. My great grandmother and her sons, Victor Hugo, Cecil and Lorenzo Mack Rowe all went to live in the Masonic Widow’s and Childrens Home in Nashville, TN. My grandmother lived with her grandparents, David Rees Thomas and Prudence Levy Thomas for a bit in 1900. Family stories tell of how she left Flannery School for Girls in 1908 to attend Tennessee Women’s College, which is now MTSU. Any information regarding the death of Robert Mclin Rowe or Flannery School for Girls will be so appreciated…thank you, Jayne

Thank you Mr. Gamble for the reference book. I did not find any info on Flannery School for Girls nor of the mining accident my great grandfather Robert Mclin Rowe, but did read about the Richards family. Elizabeth “Betsy” Richards was the sister of Joseph C. Richards married to Ann Thomas. Betsy Richards married Dr. Joseph Levy, their daughter Prudence Levy married David Rees Thomas, son of Rees R. Thomas the Welsh gentleman that had the selection of Welsh books donated to Harvard by my great, great grandfather David Thomas. David Thomas is pictured under the large tree at Thistle Switch, the one with the top hat is David Thomas. A great deal of my information about the Thomas family came from the Coal Creek Watershed Foundation’s interaction with Eirug Davies, a professor of Welsh history at Harvard University.
Jayne, did you ever get an answer about the coal mining accident? There was a mining accident around the turn of the century just outside of Caryville, TN which is close to Coal Creek in Anderson County, TN. If you have no further info, I will go up to the area, I live in Karns, TN, and will get the info off the sign that is posted. Hopefully vandals have not destroyed it. Let me know. Robert

Jayne, I reached a dead-end at Caryville. The mine disaster was the “Fraterville Mine Disaster of 1902”. And you had said that his death was in 1897. That would have been too early for this disaster. There was no mine disaster around the time of your great grandfathers demise, however, go to your search engine and look for historical mine disasters in TN, for there were quite a few of them in those days. Sorry I can’t give you any more encouraging word, but, will have to keep looking. Robert

I do not have any additional info re: the above, however, I believe you were looking for the name of Uncle Gene’s wife. It was Pauline Faye Bruce and she was from Reno, OK. I am a professional archaeologist who lives in Oak Ridge. At the moment I am doing some important research involving prehistoric archaeological sites in the Oliver Springs area. I have reached a “sticking point” in that research and need to get unstuck. In order to do that, I need to talk to some of the still living direct lineal descendants of Caswell “Cas” Smith (September 18, 1854 – March 9, 1922) and his wife Maggie Smith (February 25, 1862 – March 23, 1928). Caswell and Maggie are buried in the Smith Cemetery (a small family plot) that is located on the left side of the road on the Oliver Springs side of Black Oak Ridge as one drives on Illinois Avenue from Oak Ridge into Oliver Springs. To be more precise, it is located on the left side of the road at the right hand turnoff from Highway 62 onto Highway 61. A large white house that looks as if it was built in the late 1800s or early 1900s is located very close to this cemetery where Cas and Maggie Smith are buried. This house may have been where they were living at the time of their deaths.
My research is aimed at identifying the boundaries of the farmland owned by Cas Smith and determining whether some of his still living descendants in the area know anything about him and the history of that land—particularly any old family stories about the land, things that were found on it in the past, and so forth. Does anyone in the Anderson County Historical Society know anything about this particular Smith family and whether any of Cas and Maggie’s descendants are still living in Anderson County? If so, I really do need to talk to them as part of my archaeological research effort. Please give me a call if you have any information or leads that would help me to get in touch with these still living descendants. My contact information is listed below. I am descended from Pleasant Miller Freels, Sr. (born 1813). I have family buried at the Robertsville Cemetery in Oak Ridge, TN. My great grandmother Alice B. Fields is buried there. Close by is the grave of a Martha J. Fields (1838-1874). According to oral family history my great-great grandmother was Martha J. Hackworth, who married my great-great grandfather Lindsey Hasten Fields and was the mother of his four children. The dates on the headstone are in the right range for this to be her, as he remarried in 1881. Personally I have no documentation of her existence. I know a Martha Hackworth was listed on the 1850 Census Subdivision 16, Anderson, but I don’t have it. Neither do I have a Census record for Lindsey Fields for 1870, 7th Civil District, Anderson, that might show her in his household. I have emailed the church there, but have received no reply. No one in my extended family seems to know if it is her. I believe it is, but I would like to know for sure. Any information on Martha Fields specifically, or the Fields, Freels, or Russell families would be appreciated.

I’m looking for contact information for the owners of the Hardie Brown house in Powell. Unless I’m mistaken, this was once known as the Brown School House, one of Powell’s first schools. The house is somewhere near Beaver Creek, but I have not been able to locate it or find out much information about it. Any help would be appreciated.

With regard to my post above about Caswell Smith and his wife Maggie Smith, some additional research has indicated that Maggie Smith’s maiden name was Gropp, which is a Germanic language surname. These records indicate that she was born in Louisville, Kentucky. and that she married local Robertsville native Caswell Smith in Vigo County, Indiana in 1881.
The question: “How in the Sam Hill would a local Robertsville-Oliver Springs young man meet a girl born in Louisville, Kentucky, and marry up to her in Vigo County, Indiana (of all places) in 1881?”
That sounds like a stretch to me, but the names and ages of their children (that we know of) match up in the 1910 census records. Does anyone know if there is some historical connection between Anderson County, Tennessee, and Vigo County, Indiana, that makes any sense? Could Caswell have met Miss Gropp when her family came down from Indiana to stay at the first (1873) mineral springs resort in Oliver Springs? Is the Germanic name Gropp one of the surnames of the German-speaking Swiss folks who settled Wartburg and some parts of Oliver Springs? Is Gropp a surname that shows up in the history of Anderson County?

I am interested in Severs family that goes back to WM Severs DOB 1750 and Daughter Mary Polly Severs who married Wm Lamar as wife #2 in 1811 after Roseanne Mills died in 1806. Also to Clark B Seivers born 1830 as both families match dna very well . would pay dearly for proof of the actual DOB of WM 1752 or the actual parents of Clark B Seivers as dna guarantees a close connection.
William lived in the NE part of Anderson Co and a deed mentions a creek that was Cove,Cane,Cave or similar 4 letter word. His Wife Catherine Peck died about 1835 and is buried there probably. William lived to be 100 and died in Nodaway Co MO in the Fall of l852,

Wm Married in 1793 in Montgomery Co VA and probably moved to Knox Co afterward and lived in the portion of Knox that was taken to help form Anderson Co. One deed is about all I can find there.

Isaac Clark Freels and Nancy Scarborough had a son, Clark. He married Sarah Gamble. I believe her to be a cousin to my grandfather, five times removed.

Her mom and dad are dead so she has no idea who her family is… Does anyone have info on the hall family? She is my best friend and this would make her day.
Valerie, I would suggest Louise might consider two options: download a copy of ancestry and go back in history with all of the information she knows and see if connections can be made or hire a genealogy researcher to conduct a search. She will need to know the names of her parents and any of their family, towns or places in which they lived including approximate years and any other relavant information she knows. If she has a birth certificate that would be a good beginning. If she does not have a computer, she might contact someone in the LDS church and see if they might help in her search. Good luck!

Larry, my maternal grandfather was John Brisbon Gamble born in Gamble Valley in 1885 buried in Bethel Cemetery off Hwy 95 in a restricted area (must have permission to visit); my great-grandfather was William Alexander Gamble born in Robertsville in 1859 (I think buried in Bethel Cemetery too); my great-great grandfather was John F. Gamble born May 22, 1833 died May 5, 1916 married Sarah Ann Goldston. I have no knowledge of where they were born or buried. I got this information from some research my brother had done several years back. He passed away in 2012 so I cannot ask him anything. I have never really been interested in my family genealogy and don’t know whether this might help or not but thought I would share just in case. I now live south of New Orleans, LA and seldom get to visit my parents and grandparents grave sites. My cousin just told me about a website that has released information about my families on both sides associated with the Manhattan Project that during WWII drove my ancestors from their homes in the Wheat/Oak Ridge area. Good evening Libby, I will take a look and see about that for sure. My 4th Great Grandparents are buried there in Oliver Springs, Roberstville, Anderson Co. TN. in Sweet Cemetery. He passed away July 20, 1864. His wife Morning Ingram is also buried there from find a grave shows. I found a will that he had land to be given to his daughter Elizabeth Lane, Jane Littleton, and Sophinah Hall and of course his wife Morning. It was dated May 31, 1863, and signed in the presence of a R. M Dale, Christeener X{Her Mark} Dale. Do you or anyone know any history of this place where they are buried and or about him and where they lived? They had Sophronia, Elizabeth, Sanford, Felix H. Hall, Mary, Telithia Jane, William Meredith ,Alexander Hankins, Bailey B, and a Sarah Hall Jones. Solomon Hall, who was a Private in the Company commanded by Capt. SamuelCarter, in the 7th Regiment of Virginia Militia, commanded by Col. David Saunders, in the war with Great Britain declared by the United States, on the 18th day of June 1812. That he volunteered in Pittsylvania County, VA., on or about the twentieth day of August AD 1814, for the term of six months,and continued in actual service in said war for the term of four months nearly and was honorably discharged Fort Norfolk, VA. I am hoping someone can help me track down the date of birth and date of death of Ernie Walker Thompson who was an Anderson County resident at the time of her death sometime between 1930 and 1940. Her husband, Moses Idle Thompson, owned a coal mine and so I would think they would have been well known in the town at that time, and that there may be a newspaper listing of her death. Family stories indicate she died at Fort Sanders Hospital around April 12, 1939 due to complications from Typhoid Fever. However, I have not been able to locate any death records for her. Her grandson, my employer, would like to put a grave stone at her resting place in Sunset Cemetery (where she is identified as Ernie Walker, d. 1939) with exact dates. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Hello: I am researching my great grandfather, Issac H. White, Civil War veteran, who lived in Anderson County TN sometime after 1864, notes a partial history on him says he “was a member of the Anderson County Court.”
Do you have any idea what that would mean, what capacity he might have been?
Do you have any records regarding him?
His DOB was May 28, 1824 in Caryville, TN, he died July 21, 1902 in Coal Creek, TN.

My g-g-grandfather lived in Anderson County, and later in Knoxville where he was a “member of the County Court”…it meant he was a Justice of the Peace who could marry people, and–in his case– met with/adjuticated for the County Court. Whether or not that was the same job description in Anderson Co, I couldn’t say, but their years generally co-incide, they were of the same era.
Richard Groover – May I ask if you believe your great grandfather, Isaac H. White, was married to Hahalia “Haley” Adkins? I have traced my family tree back to my great great grandfather, Isaac H. White, with the same date of death in Anderson County that you state for your Isaac H. White, but according to both the 1850 and 1860 Census Records, his date of birth was about 1811 to 1814. So, I am wondering if they are really one and the same. I note at least one other genealogy researcher that lists the 1824 birth date. This is either incorrect or a different Isaac White. I have found a plethora of White’s living in and around Coal Creek and Anderson County, making it hard to precisely trace the lineage. My great grandfather, Jacob White, whose spouse was Nancy Jane Bell, was one of Isaac White’s sons but I have uncovered very little information about him. Any information you or anyone else may have with provenance would be immensely appreciated.
I am looking for info on my grandparents who lived in Coal Creek, Anderson County, TN in the1920s. Their names are W.J. Walker and Sally Elizabeth Walker. Don’t know the DOD of W.J. Walker and am not exactly sure of Sally’s but it is (supposedly) in the proximity of August 1-12, of 1927. Their children, Cynthia (7), Ben (5) and Maxine (2), were taken to the Anderson County Poor House by a neighbor supposedly after their mother’s death. Then the children were transferred to Georgia Tann and the Tennessee Children’s Home Society in Nashville on August 12, 1927. Well thank you for trying. I have been to the website that listed the mining accidents and didn’t find any during the time period. The only thing I can think of is that he worked at a local mine and was injured during his shift and died from the injuries. All the Anderson County relative have passed away, so I guess I will never really know. One day I am just gonna have to drive to Lake City and find where they lived I know he is buried in Leach Cemetey where his in-laws are buried. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your efforts.
I have seen the David Hall Cabin on Old Edgemoor Rd. and have several questions.Where could I learn more about the cabin and where it was originally? Also, I am doing genealogy on Gault’s, LaRue’s and Ogg’s. This cabin is located Old Edgemoor Rd. past where my grandparents, James Henry and Cora LaRue Gault, lived and had property in the early 1900’s. The original home was a two story log building that burned about 1937/38. I have heard it was a stage coach stop before James got it. Would there be any information to substantiate that? Before his death in 1941, he divided the property among eleven of his children and some of his grandchildren still live. James Henry married Cora Azalea LaRue in Sept. 1886. James Henry’s mother was Mary Jane Ogg the daughter of Peter Ogg and Eliza Dowell . I understand the home Peter Ogg built on Emory Rd is still standing and occupied; woul any historyd you have any information on the address? Mary Jane and Jesse Gault lived in Strawberry Plains as did James and Cora before moving to Edgemoor. Is there any information on these families or the property?

I have run into a brick wall with my 2nd GGFather , Samuel Jackson who was on the 1850 census in Anderson County. He was married to Emilia? , and had William age 2 and Anna age 1.
I am looking for a marriage record for Samuel and Emilia. The problem I am running into, is the wife’s name. Her grave stone says Elmina, and one census form says Ellmina, another Alminy. and another Elmiugh. Any help would be appreciated
I am searching for any information that is available regarding property on Old Edgemoor Road and what is now Fraker Lane. There was a two story log house on the Fraker Ln property, that may have been at one time a stage stop.
Some time in the early 1900’s my grandfather, James Henry Gault with his wife, Cora LaRue with their sons acquired about 100 acres there.
The house caught fire and burned down sometime in 1937 – 1939. Possibly in late spring or early fall. My aunt, Azalea Gault and her husband, Jack Smith, my grandfather, James Henry Gault and I were in the house when the fire started. I was very young and remember only seeing the flames as my Aunt drove the car past the burning house.
I am a granddaughter of Cora LaRue and James Henry Gault who owned the property on Edgemoor Rd. I am interested in the history of the property, also, if there are any records of the fire.
Many of the Gault child have lived on that section and still own property there. They have very little information on it’s history.

I have Martha Moore, b 22 Apr 1793 in Anderson Co TN, dau of James and Susanna Epperson Moore, marrying Rev. Hugh Davis (B.?) and her dying in 1877. No info on where she was buried. There is some data that the family were Methodists and some relatives farmed near Clinton. Some of this same family seem to have moved on to Nodaway Co MO, where my own Anderson Co TN ancestors settled. Hope this helps, although you probably already have this info.

Where are the early marriages of Anderson County, TN. I was down there recently in their Court house Archives and the lady told me they start at 1838!! Anderson County was formed 1801 and it is not a burned County!!!! I am looking for a marriage for Calvin Kirk and Sarah Gray that is supposed to be i in Anderson County 1833.
Marriage records for several TN counties prior to 1838 do not exist and Anderson County is one of those. Although Anderson County has never suffered a court house fire, records can and do go missing for other reasons such as being lost, stolen, carelessly handled, or simply through aging. Whatever the cause, they no longer exist.

Hello to All. I have a relative who was in the 58th North Carolina Troops who died in Clinton in April of 1863. I understand there were about 14 members of that regiment that died in Clinton that winter, but it seems their burial places remain a mystery. Are there any local historians who may know of any information that may even provide a clue as to where these men are buried?
